*** MAJOR OUTAGE PROBLEM FOR DC/BWI AREA POSSIBLE, FORGOT TO MENTION ***
March 3rd – Major snowstorm to hit Southern Mid Atlantic
It looks like the first major snowstorm for Virginia in a few years is en route Tuesday and Wednesday.
Feb 25th – Ice and snow to cause travel disruptions Wednesday and Thursday
Onto the next one my friends -
Feb 22nd – Plowable snow for many, some may see 10″ with late winter New England storm
With more rain and lighter snow expect a downgraded forecast for most of interior New England.
Feb 22nd – 12″+ from major New England storm
It may pale in comparison to recent snows but it will be sure to impress some.
Feb 16th – Moderate snowfall to affect Southern New England this weekend
Though this will pale in comparison to last week’s blizzard it may cause travel disruption late Sunday and early Monday east if i95 in SNE.
LIVESTREAM: *** 8PM TO MIDNIGHT BLIZZARD COVERAGE ***
Tune in to, relay reports ask questions and stay better informed on a storm I refuse to call nemo
Noon update on the blizzard of 2013
Snow is filling across affected areas and expect conditions to deteriorate over the next 18 hours. Still expecting up to 3 feet and a storm to rival the blizzard of 78.
Final call on the blizzard of 2013
In New York City this will be a storm to remember. In Boston it will be a monster impossible to forget.
Thursday afternoon model roundup
Good afternoon weather lovers. I’ve thrown together some of the latest models for you to take a gander at the latest guidance..
12z euro:
The euro has stayed extremely consistent over the past 48 hours and the latest run is just the same with blizzard conditions and around 2 feet for most of Southern New England … I think the 18-24 in NYC is WAY overdone.
12z GFS:
This model came in farther southeast and weaker than the others. The GFS is rarely accurate although I do see the storm going a bit farther southeast than we earlier thought. This would give more to NYC, Long Island and southeastern MA and less to interior southeast New England.
18 nam:
Came in as strong as the 12z run and a tad bit farther east. This would give more snow to NYC and southeast New England like on the GFS. It had far more moisture than the GFS, giving many in NH and eastern mass up to 40″!
RPM:
This model is only available on WSI’s paid service and therefore I am showing you WCVBTV’s rendition of it. The RPM is really picking up on the elevation differences with 2-3 times the snow above 1,000 feet and also gives Boston record breaking snow. 31.8″ Although it is probably an exaggeration is 4″ higher than Boston’s record of 27″ during the January 19-21 Blizzard of 1978 ( a different storm from the well known ” blizz of 78″ ).
